Jannik Sinner is the China Open champion

Jannik Sinner claimed his ninth ATP title in Beijing, beating two players from the top-3 and lifting the trophy in style! The young Italian claimed his second ATP 500 crown after Washington, ousting Carlos Alcaraz and Daniil Medvedev to add 500 ATP points to his tally and crack the top-4 for the first time in a career.

Jannik ousted Daniil 7-6, 7-6 in the title match in two hours and one minute, prevailing in the crucial moments and sealing the deal in straight sets against one of the most dangerous rivals on hard court. Medvedev served at 73%, but it was not enough to keep him safe.

The Russian faced all five break points while earning only one break opportunity, as the Italian produced reliable numbers behind the first and second serve. The younger player played flawless tennis in both tie break, clinching them 7-2 and lifting his third trophy of the season.

Sinner left Medvedev behind in the shortest range up to four strokes, attacking first and using his serve as a potent weapon. There was nothing to separate them in the mid-range and most extended ones, and the young gun delivered his victory in the quickest exchanges.

They served well in the encounter’s opening four games, locking the result at 2-2. Jannik saved a break point in the fifth game and held after an aggressive forehand. The Italian missed his chances in the eighth game, allowing the Russian to remain on the positive side.

They served well ahead of the tie break, and Jannik grabbed two mini-breaks for 3-0. Two winners on serve sent Sinner 5-0 in front, and he clinched the breaker 7-2 for a boost. The second set saw 11 comfortable holds and one challenging game on Medvedev’s serve.

They held at love in the opening games, and Daniil experienced three break chances in the third. He saved them (the third with a forehand winner) and held to remain on the positive side. Sinner held at 30 at 3-4 and secured the tenth game at love to prolong the action.

As in the opener, the Italian moved 3-0 up in the tie break and forged a 5-2 lead with a service winner. Jannik passed Daniil at the net with a forehand for four match points and converted the first with a forehand winner to celebrate the title.
