Nick Kyrgios shades part of US Open draw

Kyrgios seemingly doesn’t even know who are some of the players competing at the US Open.

Nick Kyrgios shaded a US Open draw section, suggesting he has never heard of some of the players who are competing at Flushing Meadows this year. On Wednesday, No 7 seed Stefanos Tsitsipas and 28th-seeded Christopher Eubanks suffered surprise defeats at the US Open.

The exits of Tsitsipas and Eubanks left No 9 seed Taylor Fritz the doors wide open to make the US Open quarterfinal. Reacting to a screenshot of the draw posted by Jose Morgado, Kyrgios wrote: “Who are some of these guys (laughing emoji).”

Kyrgios missing this year’s US Open
After withdrawing from Wimbledon due to a wrist injury, Kyrgios also wasn’t ready to play at the US Open.

“Heartbroken about the US Open. I will be back. My wrist is not ready yet to compete. But may I remind people I have a protected ranking of 21 when I choose to be back, lIl be back where I belong,” Kyrgios said in early August.

Kyrgios has played just one tournament so far in 2023 and that has led to his fanbase feeling concerned.

After withdrawing from the US Open and officially missing all four Grand Slams in 2023, Kyrgios took to social media to reveal to his fans that he will be aiming for a major comeback when he gets the green light to return to tennis.

“To my millions of fans out there, I guess we just have to be patient. Trust me, I still have some fire left in the tank, my body just needs time to recover and get back. I’m still as motivated as ever, in the gym, treatment, recovery.

Everything off court is doing great. I am eyeing to come back and have a season like my last again,” Kyrgios captioned his Instagram Story after the US Open withdrawal.

Kyrgios will probably skip the remainder of the 2023 season and then try to return fully healthy and ready for the start of the 2024 season in Australia.
