Kyrgios seemingly feels that he gets criticized for what some get praised.
Nick Kyrgios suggests it is “funny” that some players get praised for what he often gets criticized. On Tuesday, Rublev suffered a bit of a breakdown in the third set of a Cincinnati Masters second-round loss to Emil Ruusuvuori.
Down to Ruusuvuori in the third set, Rublev became emotional as it was evident that he was having a hard time accepting that the things weren’t going his way. On social media, fans showed empathy for Rublev and praised the Russian for being his true self on the court.
“Rublev was emotional during a changeover in the 3rd set tonight. He wears his heart on his sleeve & let’s us in on everything he’s feeling. It’s a beautiful thing to be so raw & honest, but it’s also really tough seeing him like this.
Sending Andrey love,” The Tennis Letter’s post read. Kyrgios reacted: “Funny for some it’s ‘raw’ & ‘showing emotions.’ ”
Kyrgios skipping the Cincinnati Masters
Unfortunately, Kyrgios is not competing at this year’s Cincinnati Masters.
After being forced to skip Wimbledon and the start of the North American hard-court swing, Kyrgios was also forced to skip Cincinnati. Last week, Kyrgios also confirmed he would not be able to take part in the upcoming US Open.
“Heartbroken about the US Open. I will be back. My wrist is not ready yet to compete. But may I remind people I have a protected ranking of 21 when I choose to be back, lIl be back where I belong,” Kyrgios said in a statement posted on his Instagram Story last week.Kyrgios missed the first part of the season due to knee surgery.
At the start of the grass season in June, Kyrgios returned to action in Stuttgart. After losing in the Stuttgart first round, Kyrgios sustained a wrist ligament issue. That injury forced Kyrgios to skip the remainder of the grass season and the Australian is now also missing the entire North American hard-court swing. It remains to be seen if Kyrgios will appear in any tournaments in the remainder of the season.
